Welcome to our blog I will post about things that matter to people in our area.
Erosion control is a big problem here in the areas around Amon Carter Lake with big rains we lose roads and land runs into the ravines.
To stop it you need to determine the topography of your property. Determine where the water is running its speed and direction.
The goal is to slow the speed redirect the water through a series of French drains or build creek style channels to get it into the ravines without damaging the side of the ravine and put it in the lake without your soil going with it.
Once you do this it is important to plant grass and plants that will hold the soil together further stopping the loss of topsoil.
It is a lot of work but in the end, you will increase the beauty of your land and make taking care of your property easier due to the leveling of your ground the reduction in rocks sticking out due to erosion saving you on damage to your lawn equipment and you will see better grass start to spread killing out weeds.
Erosion Before and After We fixed the problem.

What the dry ravines look like during a rain it is beautiful but destructive.
All your topsoil is rushing to the lake as well as the ravines themselves are widening from the runoff cutting the sides.
